The Sine Agila is an annual film fesival of the AB Communication program. For this year’s film fest, the theme focused on the theme “Rediscovering the Cagayano Culture through Film”. Student directors were invited for a press conference at the PIA Region 02 Office on February 29, 2020 to promote the films and to highlight the pride of Cagayano Culture through their films.

This year’s Sine Agila Film Festival obtained at least 10 shortfilms that highlighted the culture of Cagayano people, tradition, as well as different tourist destinations in the province such as the Iguig Calvary Hills, the majestic Pinacanauan River, and heritage sites, among others. Popular culture of today’s generation was also highlighted including some aspects of societal problems and issues.

Among the movies produced are as follows:

“Sol at Luna” – Mark Joshua Sibayan
“Agi” – Leian Acera and Nyra Lopez
“Kang Gannung yo Danum” – Mark Jade Etsa
“Isang Guhit” – Joshua Albert Forto
“Iskaramyenta” – Alicia Marayag
“11:11” – Ysaiah Galacinao
“Lusy” – Jefferson Olangco
“Novena” – Aleli Gargar

Meanwhile, these films were screened at selected venues in the College of Arts and Sciences per schedule. The screening served as another Income Generating Project of the CSU Alliance of Communication Students.

The Awarding Ceremony was held at the Tuguegarao City Provincial Museum the next day. Copies of movies were donated to the Cagayan Provincial Museum to ensure that the short films will be showcased in the museum to promote the Cagayano culture to the visitors.
